Hi standards-lovers / SynthBio enthusiasts,

At the last BBF technical standards workshop the measurement sub-group
presented on a measurement tool kit and physical reference standard,
and showed some early results comparing promoter characterization
across institutions, see here:

http://openwetware.org/wiki/The_BioBricks_Foundation:Standards/Technical/Measurement
(there's also a video slideshow linked from the page)

Caroline Ajo-Franklin and I have run the kit at MIT and LBL. It would
be great to have groups at other institutions take these measurements
as well. We'd like to get a feel for the variability to expect when
independent groups are measuring parts to contribute to a shared
collection like the MIT Registry.

We'll be writing this up as a BioBrick RFC and also as part of a
typical journal article. If you'd like to participate you'll be
included as an author on the journal article and will contribute to
BioBrick standards! what a deal :)

We're on a pretty short time scale, so If you'd like to run a test in
the next week or two, please shoot me an email. Access to a flow
cytometer will be required for this set of experiments and I'll
provide the strains.

thanks!
jason
