Bionet

As an Artist In Residence of the BioBricks Foundation, I was invited to participate and contribute to the formation of the Bionet. The Bionet is sort of like the internet, but for biology. The internet of biological things. “Things” in this case can mean an organism, but can also refer to a smaller subset or part of the organism, down to the genes and molecules that make up its being. The aim of the Bionet is to make it easy and safe for larger populations to participate in bioengineering, and to open a field that is often closed to many people for lack of tools, language, and resources.
